I build software. And I know how to explain why it works.
I'm Emiliano Castellina, a Software Engineer and Senior Developer. After a research PhD and over a decade of enterprise consulting on cloud architecture, software development and security, I now offer the same expertise as a freelancer: solid solutions, explained clearly, with the attention to detail of someone who still teaches this material today.

What I can do for you
Focused consulting or end-to-end development, depending on what's needed: from architecture down to the code itself.
Cloud Architecture (Azure)
Design, migration and optimization of Microsoft Azure solutions — from infrastructure to PaaS services, with an eye on cost and scalability.
Software Development
Web applications, APIs and backend services. Experience with .NET / .NET Core, Python, and integrations across heterogeneous systems.
AI & Data
Solutions built on Azure Cognitive Services and Machine Learning: from prototyping to integration into existing processes.
Cybersecurity
Consulting on cryptography, hardening and secure development practices, including training for development teams.
Technical Leadership
Technical project guidance, code review, architecture definition and mentoring for development teams.
Technical Training
Tailored courses and workshops for companies, drawing on years of teaching experience in computer science, networking and security.
Enterprise experience, rooted in research
Enterprise client projects
Years of consulting at Cluster Reply and HUDI on projects for Cattolica Assicurazione, Adecco Italia, CNH, FCA, Iveco, Costa Crociere and Ermenegildo Zegna.
A PhD before the industry work
Ph.D. and post-doctoral research at Politecnico di Torino, with international publications and participation in European research consortia.
Continuous learning, not a one-off
Dozens of courses completed every year, from cybersecurity to artificial intelligence — tracked and listed in the full CV.
I can explain, not just build
I teach STEM subjects every day: the same clarity carries over into how I communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.
Research background
Before consulting came research: a PhD in Computer and Systems Engineering at Politecnico di Torino (2006–2009) and a post-doctoral fellowship (2009–2011) in home automation and Assistive Technologies, with international collaborations within the European network of excellence COGAIN (eye tracking) and with the neuroscience department of the Molinette hospital in Turin. This work resulted in a book, two book chapters, five journal articles and several IEEE and ACM conference papers — awarded the 2008 Scientific Production Quality Award by the Politecnico's Doctoral School.
Keeping skills current
Two active Microsoft Azure certifications, and an ongoing commitment to continuous learning that in the past year alone has included advanced courses in cybersecurity, cryptography and software security.
